How does leaving a Tip Dec, help servers?

Tip Dec, LLC hopes to act as an advocate and voice for servers to earn a living wage. Currently many states allow a tipped minimum wage, in which an employee can make as little as $2.13 per hour. The difference between that $2.13/hr and the federal minimum wage ($7.25) is taken out of the tips earned by the server. This is a gross abuse and unfair practice exercised by some employers. Tip Dec, LLC believes in giving power back to the people, and holding businesses accountable. Tip Dec aims to change the monetary tipping paradigm, by ridding the country of this practice. This will force employers to pay their fair share of wages to employees, and in turn, force servers across the United States to demand higher wages

Will I be judged by my peers for leaving a Tip Dec?

We get asked this question a lot, and from our own personal experiences, the answer is… possibly? Our goal and approach to making Tip Dec a social norm, is multi-faceted. We want to change the current status quo, help servers earn higher wages, and hold businesses accountable to pay their employees a fair wage. To do this, we must break free of the current traditions and free people of the social pressures and judgment we each face when we vary from the traditional path. This path to a better way is often fraught with friction and moral strife. Often times, it takes courage to break from the pack and go a different direction. While some may judge or ridicule your actions, we promote taking pride in your values and the cause that you are supporting.

Can I use a Tip Dec in countries outside of the US?

Yes! Not all countries view monetary tipping the same. In some countries, tipping is included in the overall check already, and in others, tipping can be considered rude.
